Wounded body of Charity miner found wrapped up in hammock

The police are investigating the murder of a miner whose body was found wrapped in a hammock beside a tree at Puruni, Region 7.

According to a police press release, the body of Tyrone Thomas of Charity, Essequibo, was discovered by a 25-year-old resident of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara, who is the owner of the dredge he worked at.

The statement said that the murder occurred between September 1st and September 6th at Thomas Island, Puruni River. It stated that the owner had left Thomas with another worker, a Brazilian national, in the camp on August 16th and about a week later Thomas informed the owner that the Brazilian national had left the camp.
