Two children at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital had to be medevacked to the Georgetown Public Hospital due to the blockading of the roadway in Region Five on Tuesday evening.
Regional Chairman, David Armogan, said that around 7 pm on Tuesday, two children, whose conditions were deteriorating had to be medevacked from the New Amsterdam Hospital Paediatric Unit to the city hospital.
The new Regional Health Officer, Vishalaya Sharma came up with a plan to have the children air-dashed out of the region by using the runway located opposite the Rose Hall Estate.
The runway had to be lit with vehicle lights which were supported by the business community of East Canje, Berbice.
“The Ministry of Health Regional Health Authorities thank Mr. Michael Gouvia, Dr. Nigel Langhorne, and Emil Jahan, Management and staff of the Albion and Rose Hall Estates, Dr. Vassana Henry and team and members of the public for the Herculean support during this process”, the region in a statement said yesterday.
