A hire car operator is currently hospitalised after he was stabbed to his neck and robbed of his vehicle early yesterday morning at Port Kaituma, Region One.
Troy Roberts, 40, of Fitzburg, Port Kaituma was medevaced to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) yesterday for urgent treatment.
Police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor yesterday confirmed the attack, which occurred around 5.30am.
According to the police, the suspect and a 26-year-old miner reportedly hired Roberts to take them to an unknown location.
During the journey, the suspect allegedly stabbed Roberts to his neck. Roberts reportedly stopped the vehicle and fled.
The suspect and his accomplice drove away with the vehicle, which they later crashed.
The suspect who allegedly inflicted the wound is currently being sought. His accomplice, who sustained a fractured arm, is in police custody.
