Guyana has recorded 31 new cases of the novel coronavirus, with the cases being recorded in eight of the ten administrative regions.
This was revealed through the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard yesterday, increasing the country’s total confirmed cases to 1,884. Five of the new cases were recorded in Region One, one in Region Two, three in Region Three, 11 in Region Four, three in Region Six, one in Region Eight, four in Region Nine and three in Region Ten.
Some 132 more persons were tested for the virus during the last round of testing. This increased the total number of persons tested in the country to 11,052. According to the dashboard there are 547 active cases, 37 of which are within institutional isolation while 510 are on approved home isolation.
Sixteen persons are currently at the COVID-19 intensive care unit even as 1,265 persons in total have recovered from the virus. There are 94 persons in institutional quarantine. In the breakdown of cases by gender, 929 cases that have been recorded are male while the other 955 are female.
