The Ministry of Health yesterday disclosed that two persons who were infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) died on Monday while undergoing treatment.
According to information provided by the Ministry, the two persons were a 75-year-old male from Region Four, and an 86-year-old woman from Region One. Samples were collected from the two upon admission to their respective medical facilities. Fifty-eight persons have now died after contracting COVID-19.
Meanwhile, according to the COVID-19 dashboard, 74 new cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours. These cases were detected from 216 tests that were conducted yesterday. The total number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 1958. Of that total, 962 are males and 996 are females.
The information provided shows that 8 of the cases are from Region One, 6 from Region Three, 41 from Region Four, 11 from Region Seven, 4 from Region Eight, and 2 each from Regions Nine and Ten.
The dashboard also revealed that there are 15 persons in the COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU), 49 persons in institutional isolation, 533 persons in at-home isolation and 70 persons in home quarantine.
According to the dashboard approximately 1302 persons have recovered from the disease to date.
