Three men armed with cutlasses yesterday attacked a family of three during a failed robbery attempt at their Nonpareil, East Coast Demerara home.
Police Commander of Region 4C Khali Pareshram said the attack occurred around 7pm. He said, Munish Bachan, his wife, Christina, and their teenage son had just returned home when they were accosted by the three cutlass-wielding men.
The three men demanded cash from the family and a scuffle ensued between Bachan and his attackers. During the scuffle, the members of the family were able to raise an alarm and the suspects escaped. The commander noted that nothing was stolen.
When contacted, Pareshram said that the family was receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation but he did not know the severity of the injuries they had suffered.
