West Indies Women will look to level the five-match T20I series against England with a win in the second match today.

Opening batter, Deandra Dottin, believes the

side will reflect and correct the mistakes made in the first match in an effort to come out on top.

Dottin, who top scored in the first match, has blamed a lack of execution for the loss.

Speaking to the media in the post-match conference, Dottin explained, “It was just a matter of execution. We didn’t do that today with bat nor ball,” she added.

She did note, however, that they had ticked all the boxes during their preparation.

Dottin contended that the score could have been closer had they converted dots into singles and built partnerships.

“I think the lack of strike rotation as well as the lack of partnerships [were factors], if we had capitalized on those dot balls and turned them into ones and had more partnerships we would have been better off,” she reasoned.

Looking at the today’s game, Dottin believed they would need to reflect and adapt quickly to come out successful.

“I think the girls were at least happy to get out there and play some international and competitive cricket but unfortunately it wasn’t the result we were looking for… I think we need to reflect on where we went wrong, bowling and batting and I think we will actually come out on top in the next game. We actually tried to finish on a positive note even though we didn’t reach the target.”

The 29-year-old was cognizant that it was a long time off from the game globally but was quick to dismiss any claims of rustiness due to their two-and-a-half week preparation in England.

Dotting also dismissed speculation that the England women were better prepared suggesting that it was a matter of the England Women coming hard with the bat.

The ladies from the Caribbean scampered to 116 for six when their overs expired in a chase of 164. Dottin was the only batter for West Indies Women to reach double figures. In fact she anchored the chase with 69 from 59 balls but was unable to get her side over the line.

“The knock for me was pretty good but unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity to bring home the game for our team,” she told reporters.

Dottin reflected on the plan to have her bat through the innings and set up the chase but credited England Women for bowling well and executing their variations effectively.
