A superb half-century from West Indies batsman Assad Fudadin orchestrated a three-wicket win for New England Eagles over his Guyanese counterparts who played for Empire State Titans in the latest round of the USA minor league cricket tournament at the weekend.

The day began with Titans taking first strike at Keney Park and posting 162-9 from their allotted overs. A top score of 71 came off the bat of Jaladh Dua whose innings included four fours and three maximums. He found support from Guyanese Trevon Griffith (36) while skipper Gajanand Singh (6) failed to get his innings going.

Bruce Blackwood (4-30) was the chief wicket-taker as Fudadin who took the new ball nabbed 2-25. The Guyanese left-hander returned to blast a 51-ball 80, a knock decorated with five maximums and four fours to see his side over the line.

Fudadin’s innings was supported by Zeshan Muhammad who made 46. Deron Davis (2-49) and Amanpreet Singh (2-28) were the chief wicket-takers for Titans in a losing cause.
