A police constable was shot while on duty last night during his attempt to disarm a man who was seen brandishing a firearm during an argument with another at Guyhoc Park, Georgetown.
The injured rank has been identified as Constable Ramsingh, who is stationed at the Ruimveldt Police Station. He was shot once in his buttocks and is currently admitted as a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). His condition is listed as stable.
Police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor last evening confirmed the shooting incident, which occurred around 6.40pm.
