The suspect accused of wounding Police Constable Ramsingh last Monday at Guyhoc Park, in Georgetown, was on Friday charged with four offences stemming from the encounter.
Police Commander of Region Four (a) Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean told this newspaper that the 27-year-old suspect, of Meadowbrook Gardens, was charged with discharging a loaded firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without a licence and assault with intent to prevent lawful apprehension.
McBean said the suspect, who is known to the police, remained in custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
