A thirty-six-year-old man is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he was shot by police during an arrest yesterday at his residence.
According to a police report, the suspect is a known character and was wanted for questioning in relation to several robberies and larceny. As a result, ranks went in search of him at his Albouystown residence where they found him hiding under a bed. He was told to come out which he did.
However, in the process of being restrained by one of the policemen, it is alleged that the suspect, held on to the rank and attempted to disarm him of his service revolver when the gun went off, hitting him in the thigh.
The man was subsequently restrained and arrested by the police after which he was taken to the GPH to seek medical attention.
