A Belvidere woman yesterday died at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after the motorcycle she was travelling on slammed into a steel rail along the Seawell Public Road.
According to information gathered, Kenny Teakadharry, 36, of Albion Road, Corentyne and pillion rider, Radha Shivcharran, 26, of Belve-dere Village, Corentyne, were on motorcycle CK 4094, when the accident occurred just around 10.45 am.
The Guyana Police Force in a statement to the press said, “Enquiries disclosed that motorcycle #CK 4094 was proceeding west along the southern carriageway at a very fast rate of speed and whilst negotiating a left bend the driver lost control and collided with a steel rail on the northern side of the road. As a result of the collision, the driver and pillion rider were flung from the motorcycle and received multiple injuries about their bodies”.
The two were rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead on arrival.
Teakadharry is presently admitted in a stable condition. He reportedly sustained a fractured leg.
