The Guyana Chess Federation (GFF) which seems to be utilising the virtual platform to its advantage, pulled off another online competition at the weekend where Emmanuel Primus and Mayas Khan secured under-16 title honours.
Primus won the under – 16 ‘A’ title with a total of six points ahead of Nicholas Zhang (5.5 points), Maliha Rajkumar (5 points), and Ethan Persaud (5 points).
Khan’s (7 points) under – 16 ‘B’ win was secured ahead of Aniyah Couchman (5.5 points) and Nathan Gurcharran (5.5 points)
The tournament was hosted on the Chesskid online platform with category ‘A’ being contested among players ranking between 1000 – 1400 while group ‘B’ saw participants rating from 0 to 999 outsmarting each other for the top prize.
Nearly 50 children participated.
