Suriname’s Foreign Minister Albert Ramdin is due here today on an official visit.
Ties between George-town and Paramaribo have deepened in recent months and have been underlined by the intention to build a bridge across the Corentyne River.
A release yesterday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Ramdin will be here up to Friday.
During the visit, the release said that he is expected to meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Coopera-tion, Hugh Todd, to continue talks on the various initiatives agreed upon by President Irfaan Ali and Suriname’s President Chandrikapersad Santokhi. Both Presidents were sworn into office in recent months.
Discussions will also focus on preparation for the launch of a Strategic Dialogue and Cooperation Platform, the release added.
Ramdin will be accompanied by Minister of Public Works, Riad Nurmohamed and the Minister of Public Health, Amar Ramadhin, along with other government officials.
