Dear Editor,
There have been many letters recently about an “ethnic security dilemma (ESD)” in Guyana. Frankly, I do not understand what this (ESD) means. On the other hand, the various authors and letter-writers who use the notion seem to have a shared understanding of what it means, even though they all apparently identify with one or the other of Guyana’s major ethnic groups.
I do hope that someone from each of our two major ethnic groups would reply. Is it possible for the postulated ESD to be stated in a succinct manner that makes it very clear what the “dilemma” is, and why it is an “ethnic security” one?
Yours faithfully,
