Three new COVID-19 deaths recorded

Three new COVID-19 deaths were recorded on Wednesday, as 54 new COVID-19 cases were also recorded.

This was disclosed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which stated that the latest fatalities were identified as three men, ages 80, 78 and 68, all from Region One. All three men died while receiving care at a medical facility in the country.

As a result Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 117.

Fifty-four new cases were recorded which increases Guy-ana’s total case count to 3,850. The new cases were recorded in eight of the country’s ten administrative regions. Five cases were recorded in Region One, 3 in Region Two, 7 in Region Three, 31 in Region Four, and 2 cases each were recorded in regions Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten.

Sixteen persons are currently in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit while there are currently 879 active cases in the country, 64 of which are in institutional isolation, while 815 are in home isolation. Thirty-six persons are in institutional quarantine. During the last round of testing, 226 more persons were tested which increased the total number of persons tested in Guyana to 17,482.

There have been 43 new recoveries and as a result Guy-ana’s total COVID-19 recoveries now stand at 2,839.
