The police are on the hunt for three suspects who fatally stabbed an 18-year-old during an argument on Wednesday night at D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown.

Dead is Adrian Purlette, who was a resident of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

The attack took place around 9pm in front of the home of one of Purlette’s friends.

Purlette was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he succumbed around 2am on Thursday while receiving medical attention.

The suspects remained on the run up to yesterday afternoon.

Purlette reportedly visited his friend’s place on Wednesday night and while he was there the three suspects arrived, approached him and demanded money.

However, Purlette told the suspects that he had no money and an argument ensued. Purlette tried to leave but the suspects allegedly followed him and launched the fatal attack.

Purlette’s friend reportedly told investigators that he heard the youth shouting for help. The friend said by the time he rushed to his assistance, he saw Purlette lying in a pool of blood. He immediately sought help and transported him to the hospital.

When contacted yesterday, the dead man’s sister, Alecia Duke, told this newspaper that the family is still trying to determine what led to the fatal stabbing.

“I just get the message that he dead,” Duke said.

She noted that she last saw Purlette about a month ago while he was passing by her home.

Meanwhile, another relative, who wished not to be named, told Stabroek News that she was informed that the altercation stemmed from an old grievance Purlette had with a group of boys.

His family is calling for justice. “No matter what a person do, you ain’t supposed to kill he,” a relative said.
