Two new COVID-19 deaths were yesterday recorded even as cases of the virus continue to rise.
The country’s death toll as a result of the virus is now 121. The 120th fatality was identified as an 82-year-old man, while the 121st fatality was identified as an 81-year-old woman. Both individuals are from Region Four.
Meanwhile, 35 new cases of the virus were recorded which increased the total number of confirmed positive cases to 4,061. The cases were recorded in five of Guyana’s ten administrative regions. Of the new cases recorded, 13 were registered in Region One, six in Region Three, 14 in Region Four and one case each in Regions Two and Six.
There are currently 902 active cases, 88 of which are in institutional isolation and 814 in home isolation. Some 196 more persons were tested during the last round of testing and as such 18,685 persons in the country have been tested so far.
Twenty-one recoveries were recorded which increased the number of recovered cases to 3,030.
