The President’s Youth Award: Republic of Guyana (PYARG) on Tuesday received a boost in its drive to assist the nation’s youth with a donation of food supplies from the FoodMaxx Superstore, a member of the Giftland Group of Companies.
In a Giftland Group release, Chairman Roy Beepat spoke of the hardship faced by youths especially in poor and vulnerable communities, more so with the onset of the novel coronavirus pandemic. He also noted PYARG’s efforts to make a difference.
PYARG equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. Being apart, the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others. It also pushes young people to their personal limits and recognizes their achievements. Adults are involved in providing support through: instruction, supervision and assessment of progress in each section of the Award, thus helping to bridge the generational gap and improve the harmony within the community.
