Three men were yesterday charged with the murder of Seon London also known as ‘Gaza’ who was fatally shot on October 17 at ‘C’ Field, Sophia, East Coast Demerara.
Sitaffa Joseph, or Sitaffa Garraway, also known as ‘Safo’, a 28-year-old unemployed man of Lot 125 Trench Road, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown; Rockford Marcus, also known as ‘Spent Shell’, age 22, of 130 James Street, Albouystown; and Kevin Jordan called ‘Little’ or ‘Strong Man’, age 30, of 21 Perry Street, Tucville, all made their appearance before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool at the Sparen-daam Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to them.
They were not required to plead to the indictable charge and were remanded to prison until December 11th, 2020, when the matter will be called again.
According to a police statement, around 5.45 pm, London and his wife went to visit a friend at ‘C’ Field, Sophia. His wife subsequently left to buy food, leaving him and the friend sitting on a bench in front of the friend’s yard.
About an hour later, while London and his friend were still on the bench talking, two suspects armed with handguns approached on foot and at a short distance away they both drew their weapons and fired several rounds which hit London.
The men then fled.
One of the suspects and another man, Kevin McAdam, 20, of ‘E’ Field, Cummings Park, had allegedly shot London in May at Cummings Park, resulting in him being hospitalised for some time.
According to police, McAdam was arrested and charged with attempted murder and is presently on bail, but the other suspect was never arrested. The case is presently pending in court.
