Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 123 as two more deaths were recorded yesterday.
This was disclosed in a Ministry of Health press release which stated that the number of deaths as a result of the novel coronavirus had risen to 123. The latest fatalities are a 65-year-old woman from Region Four, and a 64-year-old man from Region One.
Meanwhile, 13 new cases of the virus were recorded which increased the total number of positive confirmed cases in the country to 4,074. This has increased the current active cases in the country to 875, of which 95 are within institutional isolation and 762 are in home isolation.
The new cases were recorded in three of the country’s ten administrative regions; two in Region Three, eight in Region Four, and three in Region Six.
During the last round of testing, 215 more persons were tested. This brings the total amount of persons who have undergone testing for the virus nationwide since the initial outbreak in March, to 18,900. Fifty-three more persons have recovered from the virus which has increased the total number of recoveries to 3,083.
