The Philadelphia 76ers signed general manager Elton Brand to a multi-year contract extension, The Athletic reported yesterday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed for Brand, whose current contract was set to expire after the 2020-21 season.
Brand, 41, replaced Bryan Colangelo as the 76ers’ general manager in September 2018. Brand will work under Daryl Morey, who will formally be introduced as the team’s new president of basketball operations today.
Under Brand’s watch, the 76ers were eliminated on Kawhi Leonard’s last-second shot in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Toronto in 2019. Philadelphia was unceremoniously swept by Boston in a first-round series in 2020.
Brand played in 17 seasons after being tabbed as the top overall pick of the 1999 NBA Draft. He played in 263 games across two stints for the 76ers, retiring after 17 games with Philadelphia in 2015-16.
