Former West Indies Championship winners, Guyana Jaguars are set to return to training shortly.
According to Guyana Cricket Board’s Territorial Development Officer, Colin Stuart, with the new regulations in effect, training will be resumed.
Stuart told Stabroek Sport that there will systems in place to keep the risk of spreading the novel coronavirus at a minimum by following all the necessary regulations.
The former West Indies pacer indicated that the contingent will be divided into two groups of seven and will be doing mostly fitness training with some spot bowling.
Stuart detailed that it is the intention of the Franchise to soon transition into full training sessions, targeting all aspects of the game.
Training was expected to take place on Monday at the La Bonne Intention Ground but due to heavy rains those plans were abandoned. Overnight rains also forced yesterday’s training to be reverted to online.
With no definitive dates set by Cricket West Indies for the 2021 Four-day and Super50 tournaments, Stuart believes this will serve the side well in their preparation.
Jamaica Scorpions and Barbados Pride have also resumed training.
Guyana Jaguars finished fourth in the prematurely-ended 2019-2020 season which was won by Barbados Pride.
Guyana has recorded 4238 confirmed cases with 3264 recovered and 128 deaths.
