An 11-year-old child who tested positive for COVID-19 died yesterday.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that the child died at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where she was being treated for another illness.
A source told Stabroek News that the girl was tested on last Wednesday and her results were received on Thursday, when it was revealed that she was infected with the virus. It is unclear whether her death will be treated as COVID-19 death as it is possible that she may have succumbed to another illness.
The Ministry of Health had yet to confirm her as a COVID-19 fatality up to last night.
