Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon today congratulated President-elect Joseph Biden on his victory at the November 3rd general elections.
A letter sent by Harmon to Biden follows:
President-Elect Joseph R. Biden,
Delaware,
United States of America
Dear Excellency, President-Elect Biden,
On behalf of A Partnership for National Unity and Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) Coalition and the people of Guyana, I am honoured to congratulate you on being elected the 46th President of the United States of America.
Kindly also accept congratulations on the election of Senator Kamala Harris as your Vice President. Her election is indeed historic as the first woman and first person of colour to be elected to the Vice Presidency.
As you are aware, the United States is home to the largest Guyanese Diaspora who make up hundreds of thousands of our brethren and sistren. Consequently, it is no surprise that the people of Guyana, both here and in the United States, rejoice at the welcome news of your election to the White House. Our nation looks forward to engaging with you, Vice President-elect Harris and your Cabinet in strengthening bilateral relations and building a stronger and more unified CARICOM and Caribbean basin.
The APNU+AFC Coalition also looks forward to briefing you and Vice President-elect Harris on the political situation in Guyana.
We commit to working with you to rebuild trust between our peoples, strengthening goodwill and re-establishing constitutional democracy and social cohesion in Guyana after a recent period of political and social turmoil and distress.
I wish you a successful term in the White House as you embark on serving the people of the United States, providing hemispheric and global leadership and the unenviable task of restoring the United States’ status and reputation globally.
Yours sincerely,
Hon. Joseph Harmon MSM, MP
Leader of the Opposition
Cooperative Republic of Guyana
