Police have arrested a man and a woman who were yesterday morning found in possession of narcotics at a Mahdia hotel.
Acting on information received, police searched a hotel room where the drugs were found.
The male suspect is said to be a thirty-nine-year-old welder of West Ruimveldt while the female suspect is a forty-seven-year-old proprietor of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
According to a police report, acting on information received, a search was carried out on the room around 09:30hrs in the presence of the suspects where four transparent plastic parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis were found enclosed in a large zip lock bag, all of which were wrapped in a white t-shirt inside of a microwave.
In a further search of the room, police came across 12 transparent plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. The bags of cannabis were said to be wrapped in a black and grey t-shirt which was hidden in the hotel’s refrigerator.
