Youth dies after being hit by taxi on West Berbice road

A West Coast Berbice youth is now dead after he was struck by a hire car while he was riding a bicycle along the West Coast Berbice Public Road on Friday evening.   Dead is Shemar Nataniel Nurse, 21, of Number 8 Village. According to the Guyana Police Force, the driver, a 48-year-old Liverpool Village, Corentyne resident, has since claimed that Nurse made a sudden turn while riding and although he swerved to avoid a collision the right side of the front of his car clipped with the youth.

This newspaper was told that Nurse was thrown unto the hood of the car and crashed into the front windscreen and then fell to the ground. He was rushed in an unconscious state to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He reportedly received major injuries about his body. 

The hire car driver was still in police custody up to yesterday afternoon.
