‘Resilience’  Bodybuilding and Fitness Competition for December 12

The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Inc. (GBBFFI) will collaborate with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCY&S) to present the ‘Resilience’  Bodybuilding and Fitness Competition on December 12 at the National Cultural Centre.

The virtual meet will be streamed live on all popular social media platforms.

According to the release, with the country still navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, the federation and the MCY&S wishes to remind all Guyanese of the ‘resilience’ to withstand the testing of the times.

Hence the competition is to celebrate life, health, fitness and resilience as Guyanese whilst promoting healthy lifestyle and healthy living.

Athletes, backstage personnel and the executive of the GBBFFI will observe all COVID-19 protocols. While on stage athletes will be required to stand six feet apart from each other. While backstage athletes will be required to wear their masks and to maintain the mandatory physical distancing. Judges will be seated six feet from each other and will be required to wear masks. 

Athletes 

On the night of the competition there will be about 36 athletes competing in the   four different segments of the competition. These are:

Bodybuilding Light weight (all athletes at 165 pounds and lower)

Bodybuilding Heavy weight (all athletes at 166 pounds and higher)

Bikini 

Top Regional bodybuilding star, Kerwin Clarke will be the guest poser of the ‘Resilience’ bodybuilding and fitness competition on December 12 at the National Cultural Centre.

Men’s Physique 

Some of the athletes that have already signed up to compete include the reigning Mr. Guyana Marlon “Bolo” Bennet, reigning Ms. Guyana Bikini Champion Rosanna Fung, CAC finalist Darious Ramsammy, reigning 2020 Novices Bodybuilding Champion, reigning 2020 Novices Bikini and Men’s Physique Champions, Guyana Strong Man winner, Carlos Petersen and many more accomplished athletes from every county in Guyana.

Guest Poser  

Reigning CAC Gold Medalist, and five-time Mr. Guyana Champion and one of Guyana’s top elite athletes, Kerwin Clarke will take up the honours of guest posing for the night of the competition.

Prizes 

The top three finishers of each segment will receive cash prizes of $100,000, $70,000 and $50,000.

The overall winner of the Bodybuilding segments will receive $200,000.

All registered athletes are in full preparatory mode and the GBBFF along with the filming and media crew are working hard to present to Guyana live bodybuilding and fitness competition of the highest level.
