Michelle Playter has dropped a second single in time for the holidays. “Oh Beautiful Christmas” is the singer’s second release in a matter of months.
Michelle, who is also model, said, “For me Christmas is about Christ and celebrating all his wonderful blessings. I am so happy that the Christmas season is here because I have so much to celebrate and be thankful for… I am always celebrating life but the Christmas season, I am always excited and happy when this time of the year comes around. Words are not enough to explain how much I love Christmas.”
She added that the season is often a reflective time for people as they look back on all they would have experienced and achieved over the year. Those who love Christmas as much as she does, the singer said, will easily relate to the song as it speaks of all the joys of the season.
“Oh Beautiful Christmas” was recorded through Ssignal Productions and produced by Bonny Alves who is also a close friend and knew that had potential. In fact, Michelle recalls the producer saying some time ago, ‘Mich everyone knows you as a good mom, a good model, a good cook and caterer, and a good makeup artist. It’s time for them to know you’re a good singer too’.
“I must say,” she added, “it’s a great blessing to have friends like Bonny and Charmaine [Blackman] in my life. It’s one thing to believe in yourself but it’s another when others can believe in you.”
Already Michelle is back in the studio working on several other Christmas songs. Originally from Kamuni Creek, Demerara River, she migrated to Georgetown as a teenager and initially took up modelling after being scouted by a modelling agency. However, singing is actually Michelle’s first love. She grew up in church and belted out Gospel songs Sunday after Sunday. Michelle and other persons in Kamuni Creek expected her to become a singer. The talk of this was endless. Some were surprised when she dove headfirst into modelling but were not too shocked as she has the height and figure for the runway.
Michelle is also the founder of Jaden’s Foundation, which caters for the needs of mothers and their special-needs children, educating the moms on helping their children as well as empowering those who feel hopeless.
Aside from working in the studio, Michelle is also coordinating the Jaden Foundation Christmas toy drive which will be catering for the children of Kwakwani. The toy drive is being put together by Michelle and Malika Russel, also a member of Jaden Foundation who is said to be from the community being catered for.
