Soesdyke businessman Terrence Dickie, 53, was this morning fatally shot during a home invasion by four armed men.
The police said that the attack occurred at around 12.30 am and the gunmen escaped with money.
Investigations, police say, revealed that the victim lived in a two-storey wooden and concrete building with his wife Loyola Dickie, age 42 years, a businesswoman, his daughter and his 18 year old nephew.
The police say that about 12:30 am the nephew was awakened by two suspects who pointed a hand gun to his chest and took him to the victim’s room and instructed him to tell the victim to open his bedroom door. The victim opened the door and shortly after a scuffle ensued between the victim and one of the suspects and Dickie sustained a gunshot wound in the chest.
The suspects then demanded money from the victim’s wife and proceeded to ransack the rooms and escaped through the western door.
The victim was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital by his wife and daughter where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
