A miserly bowling performance from by Regal Masters, accounted for the side’s opening four-wicket win over Bel Ail Rubis “Ultra Tec” in third-round action of the Guyana Cricket Board/Tropical Springs over-40 T20 at Everest yesterday.
The Bel Air side batted first and were limited to 78-8 from their allotted overs with Eion Abel (1-5), Chien Gittens (1-5), Anthony Ifill (1-8) and Conrad Boele (-120) all caturing a wicket. Only Chandrika Jeenarine with an unbeaten 16 mustered any fight.
Regal in response, got to their intended target, 79-6, in the 16th over to register a win in their first match to start the tournament on the right footing. Roy Persaud who came in at first drop and scored 21 and was the spearhead of the chase while Ifill returned to scored 14 as Shaun Massiah nabbed 2-6 in a losing cause.
