Resaul secures GTA men’s open final

Nineteen-year-old Heimraj Resaul was unstoppable on Monday evening as he coasted his way to championship honours in the Guyana Tennis Association (GTA), ITF Safe Tennis tournament at the Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara Tennis Court.

Resaul, a national youth player who is currently a student/athlete at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, got past Benjaton Osbourne to lift the cup. He won the match 6-0, 6-1. 

Earlier in the tournament, Resaul upstaged the number one seeded player and tournament favourite, Gavin Lewis 6-2 6-7 (7-1) (10-2) in the semis to secure his finals spot. 

Meanwhile, the consolation final saw Ronald Murray downing Javed Khan 6-2, 6-3 to take top honours.
