Guyana’s COVID-19 fatalities have now increased to 147 as two new deaths were officially reported yesterday.
The 146th fatality which was officially placed on the COVID-19 dashboard was that of Anna Regina Deputy Mayor, Rudolph Williams who passed away on Tuesday evening. The 147th fatality was identified as a 53-year-old woman from Region Four.
Meanwhile, 47 new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded which increased the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 5,236. The new cases were recorded after some 382 more persons were tested. This increased the total number of tests done to 28,542.
According to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, the new cases were recorded in Seven of Guyana’s Ten Administrative Regions with 1 new case in Region Two, 8 in Region Three, 9 in Region Four, 2 in Region Five, 12 in Region Seven, 1 in Region Eight and 14 in Region Ten.
As a result there are now 839 active cases in the country, 108 of whom are in institutional isolation while some 731 are in approved home isolation. Some eight persons are also in the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit. Meanwhile there are 40 persons in institutional quarantine even as some 38 more persons have recovered from the virus which increased the total number of recoveries to 4,242.
