Dear Editor,
It was good news to hear that the Region 6 authorities have taken firm steps to enforce the Covid-19 restrictions.
Why then do other regional authorities not follow suit? In Lethem where I live, the Covid committee and police are doing nothing to charge people for openly breaching the regulations. In the past two days I visited six stores, four of whose owners hadn’t a mask, and all six in which customers without masks were being served. Yesterday, one such customer cynically told me that if old people are most susceptible to the virus, they should stay at home.
The time for public advisories is over. Firm steps must be taken to enforce the law and protect the public at large.
Yours faithfully,
Clairmont Lye
