Carpenter dies after collision on Number 5 road

A 35-year-old carpenter is now dead after he collided with a car while riding his motorcycle on the Number 5 Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB).

Dead is Thussan Joe, of Number 22 Village, WCB.

According to the Guyana Police Force, the accident occurred yesterday around 6pm.

Investigations revealed that 28-year-old Devon Sears, who was driving the car, made a U -turn from north to south into the path of Joe, who was proceeding east along the northern side of same road. The two vehicles collided and Joe was pitched onto the southern grass parapet and received multiple injuries about his body.

Joe was picked up in an unconscious state and was transported to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor, who pronounced him dead on arrival. 

Meanwhile, a breathalyser test was conducted on Sears and the results showed that he had zero micrograms of alcohol in his breath.

The motorcycle and the car were lodged at the Fort Wellington Police Station. Sears was taken into police custody pending further investigation.
