The calendar has flipped to December and National Bikini champion, Roseanna Fung, cannot wait to unwrap an early Christmas present, her new and improved physique at the ‘Resilience’ Bodybuilding competition in 11 days at the National Cultural Centre.
This is not a new Roseanna, this is the old Roseanna with new upgrades.
Strutting to a first place finish in her debut outing at the National Senior Bodybuilding Championships last year, Fung has plans to end an arduous 2020 on a positive note.
Fung told this publication yesterday that she currently has her hard hat on putting in overtime in her home gym and was successful in bringing up some lagging body parts in an effort to be more complete and balanced to compete with the best bodies locally and in the Region.
“I improved in my back for sure. I take the fact that I’m defending my title very seriously and so I will make well with the sacrifices I have to and do the best that I possibly can to defend what I have worked so hard to accomplish. In the beginning it wasn’t easy adjusting to training with such limited equipment having come from fully stocked gym (Space Gym) but as a human being it’s in our nature to adapt and I did just that.”
She added “As we all know, this pandemic has taken a toll on each and every one of our lives but specifically for me I’ve had to cope with losing a job along with not having a gym to train at and I have to admit for the first couple of weeks it was tough on me mentally having gone from training six days a week to barely getting in any sessions. Despite a year full of challenges, the 21-year- old aspires to raise the bar on the local stage while also taking her talents overseas in 2021.
“No one can say what 2021 will hold for us, but I have a feeling it will be a year of many victories. I am proud of each and every one of the athletes that has signed up for this year‘s competition considering all the trials and tribulations that we all had to endure to get where we are today and I’d like to wish everyone of them good luck.”
Tanned, toned and clad in stilettos, Fung plans to use her perfect mix of beauty, style and muscle to carve out a dominant win on December 12.
The virtual meet will be streamed live on all popular social media platforms.
The bodybuilding federation and the Ministry of Culture Youth & Sports wishes to remind all Guyanese of the ‘resilience’ to withstand the testing times.
