The Essequibo leg of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Tropical Spring T20 over-40 tournament bowled off at the weekend with Imam Bacchus and Reliance securing contrasting wins.
The Imam of Bacchus side at the Reliance Cricket Ground, pulled off a comfortable seven-wicket win over Invader Masters in a rain-affected 15-overs-a-side contest.
Invader Masters, after being inserted, posted a paltry 112 for eight from their allotted 15 overs with opening batsman, Dharmendra Lakhan, contributing a quickfire 38 from 19 balls while Devenand Mahadeo (27) played a useful role.
Lakeram Persaud was the pick of the bowlers for the eventual winners with figures of 4-29 as Imam Bacchus, in response, coasted home at 115 – 3 in 14.4 overs on the back of a fine unbeaten half century from Eishwar Singh (58).
Fazeer Khan (22) was the other main contributor in the successful run chase as Bhesham Seepersaud (2-9) took two of the three wickets to fall.
Meanwhile, Reliance secured their win by way of a walkover from Jaguars.
