Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Dwane Williams, the vendor who was found dead behind a shack in the Wismar Housing Scheme area last Friday morning.
When contacted, Commander of Region 10 Hugh Winter told Stabroek News that the two suspects are being questioned by the police.
Last Friday, Williams, also known as “Levi” and “Sweetie man,” 54, of Wismar, Linden, was found dead by residents with gaping wounds to his throat and his wrist.
The police had said Williams is believed to have been murdered by a person or persons unknown sometime between last Thursday night and 5.45 am on Friday.
A nephew of the deceased previously told police officers that at approximately 9pm on November 26, the man visited his 88-year-old mother, who resides with the nephew, and he spent some time before returning home to cook.
The report added that about 5.45 am last Friday, the nephew received information from persons in the community who informed him that Williams was seen lying motionless.
The report said the police were contacted and subsequently visited the scene.
The body was examined and marks of violence were found. A search later also led to the discovery of a knife.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination conducted on Monday revealed the cause of Williams’ death as multiple incised wounds.
According to the nephew of the deceased, Williams is expected to be buried next Friday.
