The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has advised the Guyana Police Force to institute a charge against a suspect in the murder of a Linden vendor Dwane Williams, the Guyana Police Force announced yesterday.
Larry DaSilva is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
Williams, also known as ‘Levi’ and ‘Sweetie Man, 54, of Wismar, Linden, was found dead by residents with gaping wounds to his throat and his wrist last week Friday morning.
The police had said Williams is believed to have been murdered by a person or persons unknown sometime between the previous night and 5.45 am last Friday morning.
A nephew of the deceased previously told police officers that at approximately 9pm on November 26th, the man had visited his 88-year-old mother, who resides with the nephew, and he spent some time before returning home to cook.
The report added that about 5.45 am last Friday, the nephew received information from persons in the community who informed him that Williams was seen lying motionless.
The body was examined and marks of violence were found. A search later also led to the discovery of a knife.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination conducted on Monday revealed the cause of Williams’ death as multiple incised wounds.
According to the nephew of the deceased, Williams is expected to be buried next Friday.
