The World Chess Federation (FIDE) held its online World Cadets and Youth (Under 10-18) Rapid Chess Championships and Guyana was represented in all of the categories.
The boys and girls who represented Guyana were chosen based on their performances in the separate age groups, and who, in some instances, were available at the time of selection.
The event comprised five categories: Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 competing in two sections: open and girls. The time control for the selection stage, in which Guyana participated, was 10 minutes + 3 seconds increments starting from the first move. The participants for each championship should not have reached their 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, and 18th birthdays respectively before January 1, 2020.
At the time of writing, no games had become available for publication. However, Arysh Raghunauth representing Guyana in the Under-10 category played with distinction when he annihilated William Antony Salvane in 16 moves. I had a look at the live game and there was no doubt checkmate was executed on the square f7. It was a great game by the youngster.
