A Huntley man is now dead after being struck along the Huntley Public Road, Mahaicony in a hit-and-run accident.
Rohit Tooknauth, 64, of Lot 5 Huntley Public Road, Mahaicony, was hit by a vehicle between the hours of 7:30 and 8 pm while on his way home.
A relative of the deceased, who asked not to be named, told Stabroek News that they were alerted to the accident by neighbours, who found Tooknauth after he was struck.
The woman said the injured man had already been taken to the hospital when they arrived at the scene.
However, he succumbed shortly after while receiving treatment at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital.
Police were still investigating the accident up to yesterday.
