A crafty half-century from national Under – 15 batsman, Alvin Mohabir, was the cornerstone of Georgetown’s 99-run win over West Demerara in the opening round of the Demerara Inter-Association Under – 19 50-overs tournament yesterday.
The match was contested at the Everest Cricket Club ground under damp conditions. Georgetown’s skipper, Dwain Dick, won the toss and decided to bat.
His team endured a less than ideal start after opening batsman, Ezekiel Wilson (00) was removed by seamer, Jeffery Blair, in the first over. His dismissal brought Mohabir to crease and, together with Jaden Campbell (19), the pair added 60 useful runs.
