New Amsterdam Mayor, Winifred Heywood, has thrown her support behind Flying Ace’s premier wheelsman, Balram Narine.
Narine picked up where he left off when local cycling action returned recently after a nine-month hiatus with the Guyana Cycling Federation’s three-stage time trials. In that event, Narine rode to a fifth place overall finish in the Open division. He placed seventh in the Georgetown leg followed by two eighth placed finishes in the Linden and Berbice legs. His overall timing stood at one hour, 10 minutes and 12 seconds.
For his performance, Mayor Heywood recognized the 22-year-old through a simple ceremony at her New Amsterdam office where he received a financial reward as well as a trophy.
