Corentyne fisherman charged with attempt murder of wife

A fisherman who police say stabbed his wife three times was yesterday charged with attempted murder at a Berbice Court.

Bim Krishna Nandalall ,44, called ‘Wallis’, of Letter Kenny Village, Corentyne Berbice, was arraigned before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Whim Magistrate’s Court when he was charged with attempting to commit murder.

The indictable charge states that in December, at Letter Kenny Village, Corentyne, he attempted to murder his wife. He was remanded to prison and matter was adjourned until January 11.

According to the police, the 35-year-old housewife of Letter Kenny Village, Corentyne, was stabbed three times on the day the crime was committed.  She was reportedly in a serious condition when she was transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

Police investigations revealed that the couple were overheard arguing in the house by their 13-year-old son who was outside in the yard. The child reportedly told the police that he entered the kitchen and saw his mother with blood on her clothing and skin. There was also a knife in his father’s hand. The police had said that the accused escaped with knife while his wife was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital, where she was examined then transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
