Roscoe McIntyre, the man accused of setting fire to the Arakaka Police Outpost, was on Thursday charged with the crime.
McIntyre, 29, appeared via Skype before Magistrate Dylon Bess, who read the charge of setting fire to a public place to him.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge that on December 11th, he set fire to the Arakaka Police Outpost. He was subsequently remanded to prison.
The fire was set to the outpost at about 2.30am on the day in question while several police officers were locked inside. However, the lawmen were able to escape and extinguish the fire before the building was severely damaged.
Information provided by the Subordinate Officer, who was on duty at that time, revealed that he along with several other officers were performing duties in the enquiries office when they heard a loud explosion. They immediately rushed to see what had happened and saw a huge blaze on the front door of the building.
They subsequently rushed and extinguished the blaze with water. Following the incident, the police said a partly burnt five-gallon bottle was found at the front door. They made checks around the building but no one was seen.
It was disclosed that the perpetrator doused the front door with gas before setting it on fire.
