Region Five man, 73, is Guyana’s 160th COVID-19 fatality

The Ministry of Health this morning confirmed that as of yesterday, December 21st, 2020, one more person who tested positive for COVID-19 has died, taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 160.

The latest fatality has been identified as a 73-year-old man from Region Five (Mahaica- Berbice), who died while receiving care at a medical facility.

The ministry said that it has contacted all relatives and persons to facilitate contact tracing and rapid assistance to everyone who may have been exposed to the now-deceased person.

It reminded all Guyanese to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 Emergency Measures, which are in effect until December 31st, 2020. The measure require use of a face mask when leaving your home, maintaining physical distance from others, and good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
