The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) has opened two new stores – at Parika, East Bank Essequibo and Grove, East Bank Demerara – and Minister of Industry and Commerce Oneidge Walrond has hailed the move as an indicator of confidence in the economy. Minister Walrond commissioned the stores last Saturday and noted that in addition to rolling out services to residents, GTT is also providing employment.

“We encourage and laud businesses that employ members of the community in which they serve and I understand that there are quite a few members of this store that are members of the neighbouring community,” she was quoted as saying in a Department of Public Information (DPI) report at the opening.
