Murdered Sauce doubles vendor Kareem ‘Smokey” Jervis.

(Trinidad Guardian) Over a year since gunmen shot and killed his mentor, Doubles vendor Kareem Jervis was similarly attacked and murdered while selling the popular street food along the Southern Main Road Tuesday night.

Shortly after 7 pm, Jervis was at work at the popular Sauce doubles stall just off Curepe Junction, when gunmen approached him and opened fire. The wounded Jervis was taken to hospital by his co-workers after his attackers fled but was pronounced dead.

Officers from the St Joseph Police station responded to the shooting and are conducting enquiries.

The blocked off a portion of the Southern Main Road, causing some traffic build up along the busy intersection.

The incident eerily mirrored the death Shazard Manick, who was shot dead while working at the popular doubles stall along the Southern Main Road on August 10, 2019.

Manick’s murder prompted the popular stand to be closed for over a week.

Manick had introduced Jervis, who is known as Smokey or Smokes to the double business and Jervis even paid tribute to him for his impact following his murder.
