104 new COVID-19 tests reveal eight more cases

Eight new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded after just over 100 new tests were conducted, according to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Dashboard 

The Dashboard also indicates that the eight new cases have increased Guyana’s total number of confirmed cases to 6,266. The 104 tests that were done increased the total number of persons tested for the virus in the country to 36,764.

The new cases were recorded in five of Guyana’s ten administrative regions; one case each was recorded in regions Two, Three, and Six, while two cases were recorded in Region Four and three in Region Eight. As a result there are now 622 active cases in the country, 19 of which are in institutional isolation and 603 in approved home isolation.

Additionally, four persons remain patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit. Seventeen persons are quarantined at facilities around the country.

The number of deaths as a result of the virus remain at 162 and 30 more persons have recovered from the virus taking the total number of recovered cases to 5,478.
