A twenty-nine-year-old man was chopped in the face and the perpetrator arrested following an altercation between the two on Christmas night at Marihaba, Moruca, North West District.
The injured man has been identified as Clive Benn of Pomeroon River while the alleged perpetrator is said to be the victim’s fifty-five-year-old father-in-law who is a fisherman of Marihaba.
A police release stated that Benn on Friday around 4 pm left the home of his father-in-law to attend a Kwe Kwe celebration where he consumed alcohol. The victim was said to have returned to the home of the suspect highly intoxicated and begun to behave in an uncouth manner.
The report further stated that the suspect tried to talk with Benn about his behaviour but the victim became annoyed and armed himself with two knives and began approaching his father-in-law.
As such, the man’s father-in-law grabbed his cutlass which was nearby and chopped Benn on the face. Benn then ran away and was subsequently taken to the Waramuri Health Centre where he was seen by a doctor and admitted to the institution. He was later discharged.
The suspect was later arrested.
